If you already know how to program an app then I don’t need to tell you how complicated this entire process is. There a few basic questions that you need to decide on when starting to build a gaming application. They require a little more effort compared to other kinds of apps available on the app store.
The main question to ask yourself is where you will get the money to fund your very own app. It isn’t a cheap deal, Mashable highlights that you would require at least $10,000 in order to build an app with a simple program, if you go fancy, your cost will increase.

Once you have your funds in order, the next thing to consider is the programming and designing. Now a gaming app requires a whole bucket load of graphics, sound effects, music, artwork, character building, and not to forget the million source code errors that need correction from time to time. If you are going to be doing the programming yourself, that is well and good, but if you are considering of hiring a programmer and a designer, the obviously you need more funds because these guys aren’t cheap. Good programmers are already hard to find, which doesn’t really reflect well on the money that you need to spend on them.
If you finally decide that you will have to hire a small team then make sure that they are the kind of people who will give your app priority over any other work that they may be doing. Considering that your app is a game, it will require many bug fixes and updates, so make sure your programmer is available at your beck and call. When you have these startup basics figured out, the next step is to finalize the idea that you will be implementing on. You must have an idea in your mind of what this game is going to look like. It is important that your idea is unique in a way that it attracts people, not something that is so out of the box that the customers feel bewildered towards it. Research on the existing trending games in the app store and find out why people like what they do. Then try to figure out what will be different for your own gaming app, which features will you like to pick up from the other popular app. Make sure you don’t run into any infringement issues because it will damage your image in the future. If the app store comes across your infringement issues, your app may be removed indefinitely. That’s not a good thing now is it?
Once you’ve been inspired enough that you can clearly visualize your game right in front of your eyes, you can begin. When you and your team begin make sure you organize and plan the different levels of programming that need to go into this game. If you don’t organize your tasks before-hand it is bound to mess things up. Other than this, if you are not working alone, you need to make sure that all your team members are on the same page in terms of the progress of the game so that nobody misses out on something important. If your team does not work together in work place it will be a good idea to have weekly meetings (formal or informal, up to you) to discuss the weeks progress.
The coding of the game will be a complex process and will require a large degree of perseverance from all of the people working on it. There are a million things that can go wrong if you are developing your game app without a framework. It is recommended to get yourself a framework that suits the needs of your game. Also, do not settle for one kind of framework from the start because after a month you may realize that it doesn’t really gel with all the aspects of your game, and you eventually will have to re-do it in another framework. That will most definitely be annoying.
Using a framework will make time sequencing easier for your app, but the problem with the graphics and sounds will still remain unless you have hired a designer as well. If not, there is no need to worry too much. There are a range of websites available on the internet that contain a number of graphics and sound effects for you to download. A lot of them are free, but you will also find some premium paid ones that are a bit fancier. Take inspirations from existing games like Angry Birds, Big Barn World and Plants vs. Zombies.
Once the designing and coding is complete, do not forget to beta test your application and run checks for bugs and other external errors. You can also release this beta version to users and after some time you can check their reviews. Promotion before the launch of your app is essential as it will bring in more customers and if you are lucky, the pre promotion can build a hype enough for people to anticipate the app in hitting the store. Do not forget social media like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter. The more platforms you promote on, the more people are likely to stumble across your advertisements. You can also find game blogs and forums online to promote the launch of your new game. Best of luck!
